About Ilana Newman MD
Ilana Newman MD's freshman college essay, The Proposed English Language Amendment, was published in two anthologies that are used in college English courses. She graduated from medical school at the University of Arizona College of Medicine, did a family medicine residency and adolescent medicine fellowship in New York City, and a fellowship in hospice and palliative medicine in Miami.
After deciding to write a book, Dr. Ilana Newman weighed the pros and cons of traditional publishing, hybrid publishing, and self-publishing. After taking several self-publishing courses from experts in the area, she published her first series of ebooks, Teen Doc Tells All, based on updated answers from her advice column in Twist Magazine. Those three ebooks were later combined in a paperback book and a new ebook. She later wrote Take Pain Control Into Your Own Hands, based on the continuing education workshops she teaches to physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals, Again she chose self-publishing because of the advantages of speed to market, control over the content, and maximum freedom in marketing and promotion. Since then, she has advised others on the steps they need to take to self-publish their own books and has worked with other healthcare professionals to publish their books.
